The letters ar are the most common way to spell the /ar/ sound. Around 90% of words with the /ar/ sound have the ar spelling.

Look at the pictures below. Notice the letters spelling the /ar/ sound in each word.
The word “are” is the only spelling of the /ar/ sound as are that I have been able to find. If you find another example, let me know!

Practice the AR Sound
